The CNI – Portuguese Red Cross rehabilitation project is located in a historic building with a privileged view over the Douro River, next to the Arrábida Bridge, in Porto. This space, which was the object of study and constituted the first treatment center for mental illnesses in Portugal, namely Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, maintains a symbolic and scientific relevance that the intervention sought to respect and value.

The requalification focused on the complete renovation of the interiors, with the aim of functionally updating the building and creating a more human, efficient and therapeutic environment, in line with the mission of the Portuguese Red Cross.
