A Subtle Division that Transforms the Space

Project Type: Partial Renovation

Technical Direction: Dr. Manuela Carvalho

The renovation of Camelo Pharmacy focused on redefining the customer experience through a clear spatial division: one area dedicated to product display and another for customer service. While the service zone preserves the pharmacy’s original character, the display zone was fully redesigned to introduce contrast, light, and visual rhythm.

This duality between old and new creates immediate visual interest and breaks spatial monotony. The intervention uses a monochromatic palette where black and white elements alternate with elegance, allowing the products to stand out. New custom furniture enhances visibility, while the lighting design brings clarity and a structured atmosphere.

The layout was carefully revised to improve workflow and guide customers smoothly through the space. Despite being a partial renovation, the transformation is significant, resulting in a modern, functional, and visually striking environment.

Medd Design’s Role

In this partial renovation, Medd Design approached the project with surgical precision, seeking to reveal the pharmacy’s latent identity rather than overwrite it. By preserving essential architectural elements while introducing refined contrasts, the team curated a space where clarity, functionality, and atmosphere work in unison.

Client Feedback

“The space feels pleasant and modern. The contrast between black and white is elegantly executed, and the result is a pharmacy with a truly unique atmosphere. I’m very satisfied.”
