During the renovation of Modern Pharmacy in Barcelos, our goal was to establish a welcoming and memorable atmosphere for all visitors.

One of the most striking features is the flooring, inspired by traditional Portuguese cobblestone (calçada portuguesa). This element draws immediate attention and naturally leads customers into the space. It creates a sophisticated contrast with the clean, minimalist lines of the custom-designed furniture.

The balance between classic textures and contemporary design brings a unique atmosphere that reflects both cultural heritage and innovation. A neutral color palette, carefully selected, together with strategic lighting, reinforces the pharmacy’s sense of calm and spaciousness.

Medd Design’s Approach

In the Modern Pharmacy project, Medd Design embraced a thoughtful balance between respect for tradition and contemporary functionality. Rather than overshadowing the cultural elements, the design sought to highlight and integrate them seamlessly within a modern framework. Every decision, from material choices to spatial organization, was made to enhance user experience, encourage natural flow, and support professional practice.
