A Dialogue Between Structure, Light, and Identity

Project Type:

Relocation to a new space

Brand Identity Development

Complete Renovation

Technical Direction: Dr. Ana Rita Parrinha Roncon

This project sought to preserve the original character of the building by exposing its ceiling structure and metal elements, creating a bold design statement. Natural light and carefully chosen color contrasts work together to produce a captivating play of shadows, enhancing the sense of comfort and welcome for visitors.

The interior design artfully balances raw architectural features with soft, warm finishes. The industrial-style exposed ceiling contrasts with natural wood tones and gentle ambient lighting, resulting in a space that feels both modern and deeply connected to its architectural heritage.

Distinct display zones within the pharmacy feature unique layouts but are unified by coherent signage, consistent materials, and a fluid circulation path. This thoughtful approach reinforces the pharmacy’s brand identity through bespoke visual elements such as clean, contemporary typography and strategically positioned lighting. The entrance area stands out for its striking use of natural light paired with sharp architectural angles, naturally drawing visitors’ attention inward.

Although each product zone carries its own design, the overall spatial composition achieves a harmonious dialogue between the existing architecture and the new interventions, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality.

Medd Design’s role

In this relocation and renovation project, Medd Design was responsible for creating a spatial identity that respects the architectural past while embracing the operational demands of a contemporary pharmacy. The team worked closely with the client to balance technical requirements and brand expression, ensuring that the space supports both daily routines and patient interaction.
